Feedback

I'll be honest with you, dear readers. I had a teensy bit of a meltdown earlier today. I don't know why, really. I guess it's just like I feel I'm not doing enough with this blog. As far as I know, only two people read this. And I kinda feel like I'm talking to a brick wall. I want to get this blog "out there" onto the blogosphere. Get it global, so it goes beyond only people I know. I feel like I have important things to say, but I have no idea if anyone's listening. Is anyone out there?

And while we're at it, what can I do to make this blog better? What do you want to see? News posts? DeLoreans? Webgame Wednesdays? Do you use the voting boxes? Do I keep you efficiantly informed? What do you think of a monthly email digest telling you what's happening with Ripe Thoughts? Do you like the Blog format, or should I do a video blog or a podcast? How do I get out there? Do you want just my opinion, or me and some friends spouting thoughts? I want to trim the unessescary fat and get with the program, and the best way to do that is by going through you. Share your feedback in the comments.

Thanks,
Tomato

  1. I actually like having people talk to me. It's kinda nice. People never really do it very much either.

I like the way the blog is going now. My favorite posts are the commentary.

  2. Please... no meltdowns...it will force me to relive that horrible scene from the "Wizard of Oz." (Yes- it damaged my young sensitive mind... even though she WAS wicked!)
I look forward to your posts, so I hope you don't give up on this venture. Why don't you try networking? Send the link out to all of your friends and family members and ask them to send your link to their friends and family members, etc.- you'd be surprised at how fast your readership will grow! You could even make a little flier with one of your favorite posts, and at the bottom, say something like, "Want more posts like this? Check out Blah-de-blahs blog at tomatothoughts.blogspot.com"
It's worth a try- consider it an experiment in networking, which is a very valuable tool for any endeavor. Good luck!

  3. I'm rooting for no meltdowns, either, Fluffy. I've spent the majority of my career wondering if anyone was listening to me, and yet, I'm still plugging away. This is despite the fact that, even when away from my job, I have a tendency to repeat every single thing I say at least three times, in a variety of ways. It makes my father CRAZY when I do this, but I can't seem to stop. Ten years in the classroom will do this to a person.
Maybe I'm only one of two, but I am reading, even if not responding every time. And, even if I am only one of two, then there are two. That is two more people hearing your ideas than there would be if you weren't writing at all. My advice, for what it's worth (it will get you a cup of coffee if you add a couple bucks) is to write for YOU. Write what you are thinking about, what you want to write about, what you might want to come back and read again in ten years. If you happen to educate or entertain or enlighten someone else along the way, then good for you. If not, then at least you've improved your writing skills and hopefully clarified your own thinking via the act of putting your thoughts into text.
Me, I like the editorial type stuff you write. I really enjoyed the Coke v. Pepsi piece, once I determined that you really were using it as a metaphor. (Pretty darn sophisticated for your age, I gotta say, even for a former Focus kid.) I thought you should have sent your bit about the banning of the President's speech into the paper.
Keep writing--and be patient. (yes, I know, easy for me to say.)
