You need to Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or another like-abled program to play this file. You probably already do.
I super-double-triple-mega that this won't harm your computer.
On this episode of Juiced!:
We count down the top five news stories of 2009 as I stumble through making my first podcast.
Leave feedback in the comments. What did I do well on? What do I need to work on? Would you like to see more things in an audio format?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The news countdown is a great idea. I think that Juiced! should have some of the things you have here on Ripe Thoughts. Perhaps a segment like BulletPoint Roundup, or maybe some of "And Those Who Read" reviews. I think you should explore this format.
ReplyDeleteBut that's just me.
Thanks for the feedback, Jmill. I was thinking of expanding the 'cast, too, but there are a few issues, not the least of which being my lispy voice you were nice enough not to point out. (sorry, cerebral palsy, can't help it much ;) ) The other problems are all interconnected. First of all, some of my readers who don't comment as much as you do read my blog from computers that aren't theirs, and thus asking them to download a file seems a tad too... I dunno, intrusive? Do you know a way to embed these in some sort of player, eliminating the need for downloadable files? Secondly, I think hearing me talk is kinda, erm, boring for extended periods of time. I.E. if I did an extended 'cast, I'd probably need a co-host. Maybe doing a lengthy, audio version of ScratchPad with somebody from TZ? The third and most cumbersome problem is: if I do a lot in an audio format, what does that mean for the text-based blog? I don't want the text to inhibit the audio, and I don't want the audio to inhibit the text. It's a yin/yang thing, y'know? There are people who'd like to stick w/ text, and there are people who like audio.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've read this blog for a while, Jmill. It feels nice having a fan, if you kno what I mean. I'd appreciate if I could get some more feedback on what points I'v just talked about, so feel free to do that, if you want.

For the problem of downloads, I would suggest archive.org, where files can be downloaded and embedded.
